Scoring, sources & methodology
READ THE METHOD
Useful rankings.
Visible assumptions.
We use whole-number editorial bands for the four feature categories. They express our judgment of documented workflow breadth and restrictions, not speed, profitability, user satisfaction or measured execution quality.
The Browser & value profile weights cost 25%, access fit 25%, speed 20%, heatmaps 15%, DOM & tape 5%, profiles 5% and replay 5%. Untested speed reserves 20 unresolved points. Missing feature evidence widens the range further. Market and access counts are shown separately. Read the total-score calculation →
Download the ranking data ↓Ranks, ties and missing evidence
The default ranking uses documented weighted points (the lower end of the displayed range), highest first. Equal totals share a rank and appear alphabetically. Missing evidence earns no confirmed points but remains unresolved in the range; this is a provisional evidence order, not proof of superiority. No platform has a placement override. Select a category to change the comparison.
Within each category, higher scores rank first. Competition ranking gives equal scores the same position (for example 1, 2, 2, 4). Tied names appear alphabetically; that order is not another ranking. NR entries are excluded from rank and appear last. NR means evidence is insufficient, not that the platform is incapable.
Browser & desktop access
5: a documented browser order-flow workflow. 4: native desktop workflow on three operating systems. 3: native desktop on two. 2: native desktop on one. 1: verified access only through virtualization or a similarly restricted route. NR: access unverified. This is a preference for browser availability, not measured usability; read the browser scope for each platform.
Cost
First-year monthly equivalent in USD: 5 at $25 or less; 4 at $50 or less; 3 at $75 or less; 2 at $100 or less; 1 above $100. Upfront purchases are divided by 12. EUR uses the dated ECB rate. This compares selected software licences, not feature-equivalent all-in setups.
Speed
Research distinguishes refresh settings, vendor rendering claims, feed latency, historical loading and order execution. No comparable cross-platform benchmark was found. Actual speed remains unscored; published facts and limitations are linked for each platform. A claim or a lower configured interval does not prove a platform is faster.
Heatmaps
5: specialist historical-liquidity workflow with an extensive supporting toolset. 4: documented native heatmap within a broader workflow. 3: narrower scope, beta status or a more limited depth display. 2: partial workflow. 1: minimal documented support. NR: suitable native heatmap not verified.
DOM & tape
5: specialist ladder/tape workflow or deeply integrated DOM, tape and order-level tools. 4: broad native DOM and tape with execution. 3: meaningful analysis or order entry, with notable tape, market or routing limitations. 2: analytics only, with execution unverified. 1: minimal support. NR: suitable workflow not verified.
Volume profiles
5: a specialist profile/TPO workflow with advanced documented analysis or customization. 4: volume profile and TPO within a broader toolset. 3: volume-profile context without verified native TPO in this audit. 2: partial workflow. 1: minimal support. NR: profile support not verified.
Replay & practice
5: a documented recorded-market workflow with supporting replay facilities. 4: advanced, synchronized, multi-symbol or simulation-oriented playback. 3: useful replay with significant source, edition or import restrictions. 2: bar-only or single-provider replay. 1: minimal playback. NR: historical market replay not verified. No score promises historical MBO or full-depth replay.
Market coverage
One point per documented directory market group: futures, stocks and crypto. Counts do not measure exchange count, symbol count or execution coverage. Forex, options and other markets are outside this comparison. Larger counts rank first; identical counts tie.
Platform access
One point per established route: native Windows, native current macOS, native Linux, or a browser order-flow product with documented workflow coverage. Beta-only, legacy-only, virtualized and unverified routes are excluded. Different routes can offer different markets and features; a high count does not imply parity. Larger counts rank first; identical counts tie.
